ZAVIAN~

Zavian Veer Malhotra my full name.

CEO of Malhotra industry.

Iโ€™ve been on my own since childhood. This empire every brick of it is built by my own hands. I gave meaning to my name, and now, even my nickname holds more weight than most surnames.

I have two constants in my life Vansh, my best friend and my PA, and Inaaya, my firebrand of a friend whoโ€™s more like family. Theyโ€™re the only ones I trust.

Now, thereโ€™s a third one.

Her

Sobiya

My sunshine.

The first time I saw her at the hostel gate, something inside me shifted. It felt like I found a missing piece of my soul. Sheโ€™s simple, soft, utterly unaware of the chaos sheโ€™s caused in my heart.

I couldnโ€™t let her stay in that hostel. I told Inaaya to find her a proper apartment, but she said i will shift her to mine one, and i agreed because she deserves comfort, not compromise.

I invited them to my celebration party bcs I had just become the No. 1 billionaire in the country. It shouldโ€™ve been a night of pride. But everything blurred the moment I saw her stumble near the exit. My heart dropped.

I rushed forward, caught her just in time, and drove her to the hospital myself, I got to know there she was drugged, and then i became restless.

She needed care. Real care. And thatโ€™s when I decided sheโ€™s coming with me.

Sheโ€™s in my home now. Under my roof.

And I donโ€™t care what anyone thinks not her college, not her brother. If her brother truly loves her, heโ€™ll be glad to see a man like me taking care of his sister.

I was deep in thought, seated in my study, when a knock interrupted my silence.

โ€œCome in,โ€ I called.

It was the caretaker I had personally appointed for Sobiya.

โ€œSir, lunch is ready,โ€ she informed me politely.

โ€œAnd maโ€™am?โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s downstairs. Waiting for you.โ€

I nodded and made my way down. And there she was dressed simply, yet looking absolutely breathtaking, like she belonged in every corner of this place.

I sat beside her. โ€œfreshen up,โ€ I said.

โ€œyesโ€ she replied quietly.

โ€œThen start eating,โ€ I told her, pouring soup into her bowl.

She made a face. โ€œI donโ€™t want this soup I never eat stuff like this.โ€

โ€œYou were ill,โ€ I reminded her. โ€œYou need this. And you have to take your medicines too.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t want to,โ€ she murmured again, eyes stubborn but soft.

โ€œSunshine,โ€ I warned, voice low. โ€œEat it. Or I will feed you myself.โ€

She gave me a look but picked up the spoon.

I ate my dry lunch beside her. I never liked heavy food.

Then, she spoke. โ€œZavian?โ€

โ€œMhm?โ€ I glanced up.

โ€œI want to stay in the guest room,โ€ she said.

โ€œNo need,โ€ I replied firmly. โ€œYouโ€™ll stay in my room. Iโ€™ll shift somewhere else.โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t have toโ€”โ€

โ€œI will. End of discussion.โ€

I softened my tone. โ€œFeel free here. This place is yours too now.โ€

She looked unsure. โ€œThanks. I just want to walk around for a while.โ€

โ€œIn the afternoon?โ€ I raised a brow. โ€œWho walks around at this hour?โ€

โ€œI do.โ€

I smirked. โ€œOf course. You can do whatever you want, sunshine.โ€

She tilted her head. โ€œAur kuch?โ€

( Translation; Anything else)

โ€œNo,โ€ I said, standing. Then I turned to the caretaker. โ€œGo with her.โ€

As they left, I made my way to the guest room.

Because for the first time in my life.

Someone elseโ€™s comfort mattered more than my own.

I was on my laptop, checking emails, when a soft knock echoed through the room.

โ€œCome in,โ€ I said without looking up.

โ€œSunshine,โ€ her voice made me glance up. I stood up instantly, concerned. โ€œWhat happened? Is everything okay?โ€

โ€œYes, everythingโ€™s fine,โ€ she assured with a small smile. โ€œI just came to ask... have you seen my phone anywhere?โ€

I nodded. โ€œYeah, it was in my pocket. Wait here.โ€

Walking over to my closet, I pulled her phone out from where I had kept it earlier and handed it to her.

โ€œHere,โ€ I said, placing it in her hand.

โ€œThank you,โ€ she said.

โ€œDone with walking?โ€ I asked, noticing her heading toward the door.

โ€œYes. And sorry for disturbing you.โ€

I raised a brow. โ€œAre โ€˜thank youโ€™ and โ€˜sorryโ€™ your favorite words or something, Sunshine?โ€

โ€œWhat? No!โ€ she said.

โ€œThen why are you always chanting them like a mantra?โ€

She rolled her eyes playfully. โ€œNormal people do that, I dont know about billionaire'sโ€ she said boldly.

โ€œYou mean Iโ€™m not normal?โ€ I asked, my brows furrowing slightly as I looked at her.

She paused, looked at me as if Iโ€™d just asked the weirdest question ever, and replied, โ€œNo, you are normal.โ€

โ€œBut you said Iโ€™m not.โ€

โ€œWhen?โ€ she asked, clearly confused now.

โ€œJust now,โ€ I said, folding my arms.

She raised an eyebrow. โ€œWhat did I say exactly?โ€

I tried to hold it in, but a laugh escaped my lips.

She gave me a sharp look. โ€œWhy are you laughing? Did I say something funny?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ I said, still chuckling.

โ€œThen what are you laughing at?โ€

โ€œNothing,โ€ I said with a shrug, then added with a smirk, โ€œSunshine.โ€

She stopped. โ€œMy name is Sobiya,โ€ she said firmly.

โ€œI know.โ€

โ€œThen why are you calling me sunshine?โ€

โ€œBecause I want to,โ€ I replied, unbothered.

She let out an sigh, rolling her eyes as she turned toward the door. โ€œYouโ€™re impossible. Bye.โ€

โ€œBye, sunshine,โ€ I called after her, just to annoy her a little more.

She huffed, didnโ€™t bother to look back, and walked out.

I stood there for a moment, staring at the door sheโ€™d just exited through, a stupid smile creeping onto my face.

What the hell is wrong with me?

Why am I smiling like an idiot.

Shaking off the distraction, I returned to work.

You are liking the distraction. My mind mocked me.

Maybe.

I whispered to myself.
